Mixed Emotions

The heart of a champion:

The shame of a university:

Final score of the Big West Conference Final, CSU Fullerton: 81, UC Irvine: 66. I was joking about the shame, we had a great run, and a great upset of Aaron's Gauchos (?!). Someday we will make it to the Big Dance, and we'll play on national television so that everyone can see the mediocrity that is UCI Basketball.

ANTEATERS prevail over Pacific Tigers

UCI edged out Tony Luu's UOP Tigers 57-56, in the quarterfinals of the Big West conference tournament. The last play was somewhat controversial. Irvine's Patrick Sanders blocked a potential game winning put-back layup by Pacific's Michael Kirby by trapping it against the backboard. Whiners and complainers are unaware of the fact that this is only illegal in the NBA.

Most people forget that UCI has a Division I basketball team, probably because we're not very good. UOP has been the powerhouse in recent years, but that's starting to change as they seem to be going through a rebuilding process. Analysts say that this year's conference tournament is a virtual crapshoot, so we actually have a chance of making it to the Big Dance and having national coverage to some capacity.

Tonight is the semi-finals matchup against top seeded UC Santa Barbara. We swept UCSB this season and hopefully that trend continues so that I can fabricate a rivalry with Aaron (I KNOW YOU READ THIS SHIT). Catch the game on ESPN-U...hopefully, fuck who am I kidding, they probably won't even show this shit.

"Tailwind Turner" no longer a Charger, plus some Weekend Notes

To: Nazer
From: Lance
Re: And Then He Was Like, And Then She Was Like...

It's about 6:15 PM and my PS3 has been on for 16 hours straight. There was an ongoing rotation of Jordan, Tuan and JR on Call of Duty 4 since 2 in the morning. If it wasn't for a couple rounds of King's Cup and Smoke or Fire last night, the total hour count could have gone well over 24.

Weekend Notes:

- Unrestricted free agent running back, Michael Turner, signed with the Falcons today for a 6 year deal. There was no way we would've been able to hold on the Burner (ok, I admit that's his real nickname, it's not Tailwind) as a backup for LT, but I certainly wish him luck and will keep an eye on his career away from the Chargers. Also, I'm looking forward to a full feature over at Walking Contradiction with analysis of all the latest moves that went down since NFL Free Agency started.

- /start sexist rant I'm watching the Nuggets-Rockets game on ESPN right now and a woman is doing the color commentary. She seems to be doing a good job, making quality contributions to the guy who's doing the play-by-play, but this is honestly throwing me off. Every time I glance at my computer screen to work on this entry, I think there's ice skating going on in the background. /end blatant sexism

Finally...

-I plan on going to a Jay-Z concert in April because it's gonna be at a venue in IRVINE of all places. If you didn't know, he's my favorite rapper, and this is something I can't miss. Hit me up if you wanna go, I'm buying $80 tickets within the next day or two, and it looks like the tentative list includes Adonis and Alexand.

It’s You Got Served, IN REAL LIFE!

I have the feeling that any real dance team would kick my ass for comparing them to Marques Houston and Omarion’s ridiculous, over-hyped, over-dramatic, pathetically acted out movie, You Got Served!, which sadly, I still enjoyed nonetheless.

Luckily, former fat fuck Randy Jackson, of American Idol fame, is premiering his new show on MTV later tonight, called, America’s Best Dance Crew!, which seems much more convincing.

I actually never watch MTV for the most part, BUT, A.C. Slater is master of ceremonies AND, San Diego is being represented by the group JabbaWockeeZ, and UCI by Kaba Modern. While I’ve seen Kaba Modern perform a few times, I’ve honestly never heard of jabbawockeez until watching them in the audition episode, which pissed off my friend Jordan quite a bit. Shit, I couldn’t even pronounce their name at first. JabbaJabba? Jabba the Hut?

While I don't know jack-shit about choreography, I thought they looked good.

Confession: In spite of the the San Diego and Orange County connections, I’m actually rooting for another west coast team… FYSH N CHICKS. Yes, it’s fucking sad. Don’t’ get me wrong though, it’d be nice to see either Jabba and Kaba advance in the series, but I have my non-gay reasons for rooting for an all-feminist team who refuse to wear revealing apparel and instead wear baggy clothing to cover up… go figure.

Namely, I have a crush on one the dancers… KOI FISH!

Yeah don’t hate. I’m rooting for her tonight as well. Just watch when she is introducted (00:36 mark), and you’ll be in like too, guaran-fuckin-teed.

Behold!

SHE’S YAPANESE!” Falls in love, the end.

Haiku You Ku We all Ku

I guess you could say I'm the "poet"or the "activist" of the group or am I just thinking highly of myself? Well anyways at first with every post I wanted to throw a poem in there somewhere, but writing a full blown poem at times is rather tedious. Therefore, I think I'm going to just do haiku's because there way more simple. If i remember correctly haiku's contain 17 syllables with three lines of 5,7,5 and from what i understand they don't have to be in that particular order.

My suggestion to my fellow cool kids is to post a haiku of your own about something random or about one of our homies. Especially if you have nothing better to write about, but it's just a suggestion
