RE: Regarding Our Decision To Not Blog Here Anymore
Dear Cool Kids and Cool Kids family (i.e. Not so small talk),
I'm writing this letter in hopes that this will get to you guys, someway, somehow. This is really hard for me right now, so I'll try and be brief. But I admit; I spent the past few hours outside, staring up at the night sky, with only the the stars to keep my company... Just now, I've been pacing back in forth in front of my computer, glaring at the screen, hoping this page would fill up with words by itself. But I'm here now, so I must finish what I started...
Ray, Nazer, Lance -- I know I had left you guys. Even worse, I left without saying goodbye. It was like a breakup without closure, or having some fun and not calling the next day, with no regard for your feelings at all. Yes, it was wrong of me; but I was young, stupid, immature, without any sense of what I was leaving behind.
But I had too... I had to get out of our relationship. I felt trapped. For too long, I felt like I bullshitted as a Cool Kid. We goofed off, made fun ourselves and joyfully hurt the ones we love. But I had to explore on my own, had to see the world, had to discover what was beyond the Coolest Kids in the Room, and grow up as a person, and also try and write more "seriously." Then the years went by, and I had moved on; a Cool Kid enjoying himself in self-imposed exile.
But really... it was all a facade. The supposed, newfound happiness was forced. There'd be nights where I'd toss and turn in bed, feeling miserable; alone, empty. I'd turn on my computer and load up coolkidsroom, going through the archives and looking back on old posts, constantly checking behind my back as if I was trying not to get caught. It was like re-reading old texts, or going through old pictures; reminiscing until the point where I had to close my laptop shut because the tears in my eyes would get too unbearable.
I miss it. The sarcasm, the randomness of topics, the clowning on homies, the bad ms paint pics, the bukkake, even the more relevant issues we wrote about; I miss it all. I miss what we all shared together, and I want it back. Just remember all the good times we've had. We can be great together, again. I just hope you can forgive me...
But I'll say, this indefinite hiatus of mine, is no more. This blog, The Coolest Kids in the Room, is where I'm meant to be. Like Ray said, "Being in a polyamorous blogging relationship with all of you was like something I've never felt before." I feel the same way. I want to be together again. I believe in second chances, but I'd like to believe as if we never broke up at all. We can work this out. Let's stay together.
We've all come so far:
"If you love something, set it free; if it comes back it's yours, if it doesn't, it never was..."
Please come back...
- Adonis

Regarding Our Decision To Not Blog Here Anymore
Regarding Our Decision To Not Blog Here Anymore
inspired by "Regarding Our Decision Never To See Me Again" by Ellie Kemper
Whats up guys, It's me Ray. I know we said this wouldn't last forever, but I've really put some thought into it for the past few minutes, and I have to say I think I've changed my mind. Its like when you sit down for a really long time and get up too fast and you end up feeling all dizzy and what not. Whats that called? A head rush? Yea I think that's what happened. It was a head rush. I just wasn't thinking straight I promise.
Its kind of hard you know, to put all that I'm feeling into words. I really felt like we had something the four of us. Being in a polyamorous blogging relationship with all of you was like something I've never felt before. And after you guys stopped posting, (Adonis n Lance) I really felt like something was missing in my life. It was hard just doing it with Nazer, I think me and him just couldn't have as much fun with just us two. We just needed our other halves........
Lance, who else was going to arise the same kind of feeling out of me as you. I know the rest of you haven't felt both uncomfortable and well informed at the same time, since Lance decided to leave the group. I think we all need a special bit of Lance's love juice in the mix...what did you used to call it. Oh yea thats right, a post-bukkake. Your a saint Lance. A beautiful heavenly saint. If you come back I swear you can post-bukkake all over this blog. I swear it.
Nazer, you held on longer then most and I think it really is that time again to get back on that horse and ride it. Gallop, gallop and post about things I know nothing about because being confused makes me feel like less of a person. And your great at that. Who else is going to educate me on shows (Pushing daisies, battlestar galactica) that I would probably only watch if they popped up on netflix during my free one month trial? No one that's who, no one. And that's a strong probably mister, a really really strong one. Almost even a maybe, a loving maybe.
And Adonis, Oh Adonis. I always appreciated your way of.....And then that time you....Oh and lets not forget that one thing, you know the thing that you did that one time. Great. I've really missed how you always have a way of...yuh your just great bro. Honest.
I really think were one of those groups where we first meet and there isn't really this huge lasting impression at first, but for some reason we all reconnect. Realizing that all the other blogs we've had were meaningless and this was the one true blog and we have, like, this really great story to tell people when they ask how we got together. You know the type, the ones where our kids ask us how we met, and I'll say, "You tell em Lance." and Lance will be like "No no, Nazer tells the story the best." and then Nazer would say, "OK, OK....." And when we go through all our old photos our son will be like who's Adonis daddy is this him?

Time will have slowed down at this very moment. As memories ring out in each of our minds. Lance will recall a simpler time when Adonis passed out in Mel and Kristine's bathtub fully clothed, and Tuan and I turned the water on. Nazer, will remember how great the cool kids used to be as a single tear runs down his cheek. I'll stop turn my head towards our son. With a slight grin on my face. I'll take a deep breath, the kind of breath our fathers take when they HAVE to do something, not something they necessarilly want to do, but they must. And I'll pause for a second. Look straight into his eyes and simultaneously slap the shit out of him while screaming "YOU DON'T SAY THAT NAME IN MY HOUSE!"
So what do you say boys. Give US another chance. I promise I'll be better this time. We had a few bumps in the road, but ain't no speed bump gonna slow us down. Head rushes are great an all, but when we put our minds together were not just cool kids, were the coolest kids in the room.

P.S. Adonis you haven't posted since march 2009, that's over two years JACKASS. But then again that post had the best comment run of all time. So kudos

Best of the Cool Kids: Volume 1
It's been brought to my attention that the blog gets new readers everyday once in a blue moon. And also to commemorate our 200th post, as Nazer noted, I decided to throw together a collection of my favorite works from all the contributors. I honestly don't know how we're still updating this crap. So without further ado, here are my favorites:
From Just Ray:
Hi, would you like a breadstick while your waiting?: an in-depth report on the losers that Pat & Oscar's hires.
T-pain V. Dun Dun 2008: the classic T-Pain and Adonis look alike post
FAILURE!: the first chance we got to see the brilliance of Ray's MS Paint skills.
"Moral of the story": a plea to the ladies to at least put up with guys' gaming and tv habits.
From Adonis:
Tina Fey is TOP TIER: the original wifey post
Welcome to the Smash Life; Hanging up the sticks: a first-person look at the game and lifestyle that consumed 3/4 of the Cool Kids.
DISNEY CHICKS: Who is Top Tier?: a retrospective into the hottest animated characters of our childhood.
TEAM CACHO DEFEATS TEAM DONDON IN 5K OF EPIC PROPORTIONS: the official 5k recap
A Fan Tribute
From Nazer:
Taking A Look Back: Arcades: an interesting retrospective into what USED to be the arcade scene
Well For Me...: Nazer's response to Adonis' Disney post, which simultaneously made me love Belle and truly believe that we all spent too much time thinking about this.
Because Boston Has No Mexican Food: a look at the best of Boston cuisine
Comic Con 08 posts, starting here: captures the feel and excitement of this galactically nerdy gathering.
From Yours Truly:
Why the COOL KIDS should NEVER think about becoming famous...: A look at what kind of scandals we would get into if we were famous people in an alternate universe
Why I (as well as some other COOL KIDS) don't have girlfriends PART 1: the things in my life that have served as pussy deflectors.
TEAM CACHO: when we signed up as 2 teams to compete against each other in NAMI's 5K run/walk, individual team member profiles were inevitable
The Gayest Post of All-Time: some of my totally NON-GAY man-crushes (an oxymoron if I ever saw one).
In 5 years...: a look into the future of the Cool Kids.
I know that for sure I left some gems out, so if you guys have any favorites that aren't on this list, I can edit this later, or they will live forever in this post's comment thread. Anyways keep on posting guys, and I will try my best not to drive readers away with posts about fake instruments and internet browsers.

A Fan Tribute
So I've been on hiatus for approximately 2 months – With school (sleeping in) and work (video games) taking up so much of my time this summer, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to find room in my schedule to post regularly.
Just recently however, I’ve come across some encouraging words that I feel has finally put this bad habit of mine to an end. I’ve also come to realize that 1) I've been leaving my fellow cool kids, Nazer, Ray and Lance hanging, 2) We’ve collectively passed the 200th-post mark, with no reason to stop, and 3) I feel obligated to balance the flow of Rock Band/Fake Instrument related posts with my incredibly dumb ideas.
The real inspiration though, that drives me to start writing again, actually comes in the form of a simple email.
If you’ve noticed on the sidebar, as part of our lame attempt to make this site appear authentic, coolkidsroom surprisingly maintains an email account (coolkidsroom.blog@gmail.com) in case anyone wants to give us some feedback. As I was going through the usually spam and junk mail, I was amazed to find an email that was personally addressed to us.
Anyways, I’d thought I share it with everyone.
Thanks Adam, this post is dedicated to you and your buddies up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It's people like you who inspire me to write, and in turn, start posting again. Even if you did come across us by accident, it makes me proud to know that we're able to make a positive impact to kids half-way across the country. And of course, here’s a pic of that mysterious “Lance” guy, just for you.

Enjoy!

Dear CommanderCacho, Nazer, Just Ray, and Adonis, aka the Coolest Kids in the Room!!!!!11
Hi, my name’s Adam and I’m from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I know you guys don’t know me, but I have to say, me and my buddies love your site! I’ve only found Cool Kids Room maybe a month ago, but ever since then I’ve read every single post in the archives up till now!! Probably the most hilarious, clever, yet insightful blog I’ve ever read.
You guys are probably wondering how I came across coolkidsroom. It actually happened by accident, and in a really odd way. Well, I guess me and my buddies were bored one day so we decided to have fun with Google and just search for the most randomest things we could think of and see the results.
In one of our searches, we typed in the words, FATASS, MUSIC, VIDEO GAMES, NERD, BONER, SADAM HUSSEIN, and then we threw in BUKKAKE just for fun.
But then, after hitting ‘search’, we were all confused when your guys’ site came up. Still, after looking through it for a bit, we were hooked! A lucky string of words or not, I’m glad we found this blog. Keep up the good work!!
Your #1 Fan,
Adam Banks
P.S. – I’m just curious, but is that guy “Lance” whos mentioned a lot.. is that actually CommanderCacho?? Either way, I sure wish you guys posted more pictures of him :D

Put Your Game Face On!
To: Adonis, Nazer, Ray
From: Lance

After a record setting, posting-bukkake month like March 08', it can be hard to believe that us Cool Kids have anything better to do than to watch bizzare clips of our favorite stars in their early roles, recount the past and present of the WB (or is it CW?) network, or find a lame excuse to talk about McDonalds, dessert, and grits in the same couple paragraphs.
We do indeed have lives beyond this cornucopia of arbitrary thoughts, and the fact that a "Monday" Morning Buffet falls on Wednesday should tell you as much...even if these supposed 'lives' probably entails copious amounts of alcohol consumption, endless hours ofworking out playing video games, and sleeping in until the wee hours of the afternoon.
I promise I have a couple of feature articles up my sleeve for the month of April, but being the massive attention whore that I am, I feel compelled to share with you what I'll be doing when I'm not wasting your time with my blogiture.

- School is usually the last place you'll find an interesting note from me, but I have to admit the project I'm working on for my Human-Computer Interaction class is a doozy. I can only say that I get to work with early builds of hardware and software in relation with a well-known company and I'll have my hands on other equipment that my school foolishly spent money on. The fact that I had to sign a Non-Disclosure agreement should indicate that what my team and I are doing is pretty NEAT.
- Two 5k's in Two Weeks. DonDon's team is going DownDown! /end Drew-quality joke
Somewhere amongst those two highlights will be the rest of my burdensome schoolwork, Rock Band sprinkled here and there, feeble attempts to get in shape, and lots of drinking and eating. Don't forget an absurdly unbalanced guy to girl social interaction ratio and designated driving duties here and there for all of my 21+ friends. Don't worry, I can wait the long four and a half months to drink and have fun, I'm a patient guy!

Oh yea almost forgot
this guy 2:

Right now i'm on a killing spree finding random videos that are relevant as far as creative shiet goes. I've got them creative juices flowin, but its not all serious i found some vids that are pretty funny and creative at the same time. So for all you cool kids heres some shiet for your viewing pleasure.
Audrey Kawasaki
I hold little information on this artist since i just heard about her today, but just looking at some of her work i decided to buy one of her prints and put that shiet up in my room. Not right now of course because i'm so damn broke. I know the work is a bit dark and erotic in nature, but i know the cool kids and affiliates have a level of maturity that rivals that of most adults. So i hope i don't get comments on this post that use the commonly used "nerd boner" and "bukkake". Lets be real i've got an Creative boner instead.
DPI
I honestly think its funny when people make fun of spoken word because even i do. Although this video goes on for way longer than it needs to, it's kind of like people who tell long ass stories that could be a lot shorter than they are.
DAVID CHOE
This guy is probably one of the coolest dudes on the planet. Putting in work for upperplayground and i believe RVCA.
BLUE SCHOLARS
Geologic an Emcee with conscious lyrics and filipino heritage. Sabzi dj/producer or persian decent also produces for common market another Seattle based hip hop group. These two artists make up the group Blue scholars making folks throw there fists up instead of hands waving side to side.
Ronald Jenkees
Sorry bub i don't know if its the "Hats" that make people think your weird.
Ok. Ok. With all the weirdness aside the guy in my honest opinion is pretty fuckin talented. The fact that he looks like he might have a hybrid disease of autism and down syndrome, only makes him that much doper to me. Nothing makes me like someone better then when they prove me wrong, i made the assumption that the guy would be pretty weak, but i stand corrected.

Net Neutrality and props
To: Nazer Adonis Edit: RAY
From: Lance
Re: Just Get Up And Go
Guys, I would just like to say Congratulations. Yesterday was the first time since the day this was born that all four of us posted something. I predicted Bukkake and you guys gave it to me...fuck that came out wrong.
I get jealous of Nazer sometimes when he talks about what he's doing in school because it's always interesting. In contrast, I know that what I'm learning is usually relatively boring and not something I want to post on the internet. I finally found something worth sharing though.
As most of you know, my major (as of now) is Informatics. Yeah yeah, I love making fun of how even I'm not even sure what it is, but without going into too much detail, it's the study of computer science, information technology (IT), and their effects on society. So I get a lot of technical stuff (a little math, and some programming and project development) as well as something of a social science education spinkled in.
One of the things we looked at briefly last quarter was the notion of Net Neutrality. The prospect of ISPs(Road Runner, Cox, etc.) having influence on where I'm surfing by speeding up or slowing down certain sites based on their business relationship (ie. how much money they're getting) is absurd.
The internet is a unique platform, and one of its greatest attributes is the fact that there are so many options for so many tasks. For searching, we get to pick Google, Yahoo!, Dogpile or one of the many other options. For blogging there's Blogger, LiveJournal, and Xanga, amongst others from an endless list. This kind of freedom should be a given for a medium that has thrived on the creativity of otherwise lesser-known individuals (like me and my three friends here, ok, more like the guy who made YouTube), and right now, a lot of companies are working towards eliminating that freedom.
The Net Neutrality issue is heating up a little bit with the looming election. McCain is skeptical on it, seemingly going back and forth, and Obama and Clinton have gone out of their way to support Net Neutrality.

My boy, BaROCK, supported neutrality in an interesting, and relevant way though. For two candidates with similar platforms, it's these kind of little things that make the difference for me.
So here it is, Obama's PODCAST and transcript on Network Neutrality.

State of the Union Address
First and foremost, I would like to thank you if you've still been checking this site regularly while the bloggers have been on our Holiday vacations. Entries have been sporadic at best (big ups to Adonis, Nazer, and Ray for putting up something new at least once during their time off) but I promise that this is the start of new content coming in regularly again. There will likely be dry spells and contrarily, huge bukkake-like bursts of content during certain stretches, and these will likely coincide with the ebb and flow of our school year.
Anyways, the four of us started this blog less than a month ago, and since its inception, I've received a lot of great feedback on everyone's entries. Even if this thing were to die next week, I can say I've been proud to be a part of this.
To the readers, please comment when you feel inclined to do so. If not, then I don't care if we're the only ones commenting on each other's shit.
To my fellow bloggers, keep doing what you're doing, remember that there's no rules, and I don't give a shit if you want to post 4 entries in one day.
There's much to look forward to the next couple days and way into 2008, so stay tuned bitches!
